I've stayed in 'tired' Premier Inn rooms before, which is fine as normally they are clean and functional and it doesn't bother me. Not so with this place.
The bathroom stank of sweaty feet, it was so bad there is no way the staff are not aware of it. I left the bath and sink running with the plugs in to force hot water down the overflow pipes and that did seem to reduce the smell significantly quite quickly to the point it wasn't worth asking to change room as reading other reviews on here later than night it's a common issue. By the second night the smell was hardly noticeable,
Bathroom cleanliness lacking, mould visible in various places on the grout, on the ceiling, on the walls. Hairs from shaving visible around the bath.
Appreciate the current hot weather but temperatures in the room were above 28 degrees on both nights despite my room being on the shady side of the building. The provided fan was at least decent as it was programmable and you could turn the display off to leave it running overnight. I suspect the metal roof on the building acts like a greenhouse trapping heat and making the building unbearably hot, the only place that was cool and had air conditioning was the lift!!
Staining on the back of the curtains disgusting - again impossible for staff not to be aware. Room decor tired, light fittings caked in dust that has then hardened as it has been there so long - doubt desk lamp has ever had a wipe down.
Ceiling lights in the room only worked if you had the right combination of switches (the ones each side of the bed and the one by the door) in the right combination which was a fun game. The light bulbs used in the lights either side of the bed were throwing out serious amounts of heat so left those off, USB charging points either side of the bed were both (just) working but again throwing out a lot of heat so I stopped using those too once I realised as the end of my usb cable was so hot I couldn't touch it.
I was not aware the restaurant was not available until I received an email about a week/ 10 days before my stay - again, judging by the state of the place and other reviews if has been closed for at least a while.
As others have stated - lots of aircraft noise (impossible to sleep with the windows open, even with the windows closed you can hear them but that was the least of my worries), managed about 6 hours sleep over 2 nights.
Considered checking out after the first night but didn't want to leave my cameras and laptop in the car in 34 degrees heat the following day while I was at Oulton Park racing circuit for an event.
Overall really disappointing, would recommend their Wilmslow hotel if anyone needs to stay in the area (again it doesn't have air conditioning but it's always been much more bearable for sleeping when hot). I only didn't stay there this time because of the price difference (now I can understand why).
Can't say enough - AVOID

Very quick check in, friendly staff, room was your standard Premier Inn room, very clean the only gripe was the duvet it was so thick, it was way too warm, also the planes flying over to Manchester Airport were very noisy I thought they would stop at some point but I was still hearing the at 3.00 am obviously that can’t be helped but if you are a light sleeper like me it’s hard to block out the sound.

Good, quiet hotel suited to business trips. The restaurant is shut, so the only walking distance restaurant is TGI Fridays. The buffet breakfast was well prepared and readily available
